From the original tapestry by J.H. Dearle, William Morris's first weaving apprentice. The original was woven at Merton Abbey Surrey, and can be seen at the Cicil Higgins Art Gallery & Museum in Bedford. Morris's designs formed a bridge between Victorian and modern designs, the emphasis being on timeless style and based on individuality of handcrafted work. The design fits comfortably into today's interiors.
